Evaluation Process


Vendor vehicle accident rate and traffic violations over the past 24 months are made available (this is used by clients as safe performance indicator)
Vendor shall provide documentations like valid driver license, driver’s qualifications, training and police verification (under process).
Vehicles are certified for their integrity by the local transport authority. Phased and planned Preventive maintenance and inspection programs by the supplier that assure road worthiness of vehicles and continued safety.
Availability of process to track driver’s safety performance and behaviour (includes alcohol abuse).
Appropriate insurance policies with adequate coverage levels.
Alternative fuel systems, where incorporated (CNG or LPG), should have duly certified by Local transport authority.

Safety


Fire extinguisher and first aid kit in each vehicle with periodic inspection program and validity.
Fuel system maintained as per recommendations of manufacturer & Local transport authorities to prevent fires.
Two way communication device available (e.g., cell phone, radio)
Seat belts for each seat, as client’s option and a minimum of two means of egress (located on opposite sides of the vehicle)
Emergency contact numbers prominently displayed inside the vehicle.
An appropriate current license for the class of vehicle being driven.
Semi-annual driver training programs conducted for the type of vehicle to be operated. (topics include safe driving, defensive driving and emergency operations).
Abstinence from influence of alcohol or illicit drugs and smoking while operating the vehicle.
Conversation while driving is strongly discouraged.
Drivers immediately report all unsafe conditions, accidents / incidents encountered during the trip and also any misbehavior by employees.
They ensure that the authorized passenger capacity is not exceeded and that passengers are seated within the confines of the vehicle seats.
Conducts Accident/Incident Investigation process
Reporting all accidents to customer / company and to local authorities. Further accident/incident investigation is carried out and corrective action implemented.
Submits traffic police & insurance agency investigation reports to customer / company.

Periodic Audits & Assessments


Monthly review of employee feedback/reports
Quarterly inspection of mechanical condition of the vehicle and check on Preventive Maintenance / Service program.
Annual third party inspection of vehicles by qualified Automobile engineers.
